TURKEY's Arkas Line posted a 30 per cent year-on-year increase in container volume to One million TEU, for the first time crossing the one million TEU mark, reported IHS Maritime 360.

The company, part of the family-owned Arkas conglomerate, also comprises feeder services of its Genoa unit, EMES Feedering.

The shipping company has strong results in West Africa and the Black Sea Mediterranean and North Africa, where it started operations in 2012.

"In 2015 Arkas Line intends to focus on continuing its upward trend in West Africa and protecting its existing share in all trades," the company said.

Set up in 1996, the company has a fleet of 39 containerships, 35 of which are fully owned, with a total capacity of 54,396 TEU. Arkas Line and EMES operate 24 services serving 67 ports in the Black Sea, Mediterranean, and north and west Africa.
